Conducting Mentoring Programme
April–June 2026
With Jonathan Mann
A six-session professional mentorship designed around the individual conductor.
No two conductors develop in the same way. This programme is built around your technique, your repertoire and your professional direction.
How the Mentorship Works
The programme begins with one in-depth session to understand where you are now and where you want to go.
- Your physical communication and clarity of gesture
- Your approach to score preparation and interpretation
- The repertoire you are currently preparing
- Your immediate professional priorities
The remaining five sessions are shaped around what will most strengthen and refine your work.
Areas of focus may include:
- Greater clarity and economy in physical communication
- Expanding expressive range
- Strengthening structural understanding in the score
- Rehearsal leadership and communication
- Video review and detailed feedback
- Professional direction and next steps
The direction is guided by your development, not a preset syllabus.
Ongoing support between sessions is available via email, WhatsApp or call.

Testimonials
“Studying with Jonathan Mann on the mentoring programme has been a transformative experience for me. Not only has my conducting developed, but my musicianship, confidence and awareness have all been nurtured and enhanced. Jonathan has a unique diagnostic ability and can zero in on something blocking one’s development and teaches in a supportive and encouraging way to solve that problem.”
— Ben Knowles, UK
“Jonathan Mann is not only a good teacher, but a lovely and easy going person to work with. I got a lot of insights from our sessions during the mentoring programme that gave me food for thought and a different perspective on music making. What I liked most was the focus on understanding my personal feelings towards the music and the stepping stones to finding my individuality as a conductor.”
— Tanya Markovska, Royal Conservatoire of Den Haag
“Working with Jonathan Mann has been a great experience. His teaching style and advice really allow you to feel comfortable enough to make mistakes and push yourself to be better. Through his mentorship I feel I am gaining valuable knowledge and skills as a young artist.”
